Hout Bay Manor

The setting is fantastic, and I just had a really lovely breakfast at the restaurant. Definitely worth a visit.

We’ve been to this hotel a few times for breakfast and dinner, and the food has been delicious each time, with every dish feeling carefully prepared. The setting is inviting too, with elegant interiors that make the meal a treat to look at as well as eat. The staff have always been so welcoming and friendly. They even brought a high chair for our little one, and made us feel at home throughout our visits. We’d happily recommend it for a memorable meal with lovely service in a beautiful place.

Breakfast let us down on both mornings of our weekend away. The bread was stale, the croissants dry, and the food was so heavily seasoned that we couldn’t enjoy it. The service also felt like people had lost interest. Staff seemed unfriendly and disengaged, with no real warmth or personality. It didn’t feel like four-star service, and I wondered where the hospitality and leadership had gone. Such a pity. #HoutBayManor #DisappointingStay #DoBetter

There was no tea or coffee included with the Mother’s Day high tea, which was a big disappointment. The food was mostly sugary and deep-fried, with only half a salmon sandwich as anything remotely healthy. My son had booked us for noon, but when we arrived we asked to order from the lunch menu instead of having afternoon tea. They said no because they had prepared for the bookings. Then we waited two hours to be served, hungry after skipping breakfast for this. And still no tea.
