Inn & Out Express Sea Point

I saw some very harsh reviews here, and I don’t think all of them are fair. My stay was great. The location was the best part, with the promenade just a five-minute walk away for a stroll or morning jog, and grocery stores close by. Parking is on the street, though the area seemed secure. The room was a decent size for two, and the facilities worked fine. There’s a TV with YouTube, Netflix, and Amazon. Good value in a prime part of Cape Town, especially if you’re spending the day out exploring.

The location was good, but the dorm room I stayed in was awful. It was cramped and humid, so we had to leave the door open for cooler air. That meant noise from the hallway and the next dorm came through easily. The price was low, but there’s no point if you can’t get any rest.

I only gave two stars because the bedding and shower were clean. The place looked a bit sketchy, and the noise made it impossible to sleep, even with earplugs. Other guests were coming and going all night and talking loudly. The smart TV kept freezing whenever I tried to open YouTube. There’s no off-street parking, and street spaces are limited. The walls were dirty, the headboard looked shabby, and the bathroom sink tap leaked.

I stayed from 23 Dec to 4 Jan, and there were several problems. The dorm room couldn’t be locked, and the main gate was sometimes left open, so anyone could walk in. Some guests seemed to be staying for work, which I thought was against the rules. Dirty underwear hung over the shower enclosure for days, and there was only one hook for clothes and towels. Quiet hours weren’t followed, so that rule may as well not exist. Finding off-street parking on the busy street was difficult.
