The New Tulbagh Hotel

We arrived at InnCape hotel around midnight after a terrible AirBNB experience left us stranded on vacation with two children under three. We’d called several local hotels in a panic, but they couldn’t help or didn’t seem willing to at that hour. In our last attempt before giving up and heading back to Jozi, Basil at reception reassured us that he could help and told us to drive safely. There were four adults and two kids in our group. When we arrived, Basil quickly found rooms near each other and suggested one with a bath, which was crucial with the little ones. He showed us several options and explained their pros and cons, including the layout and bathrooms. He checked us in quickly, helped with the bars, got us settled, and promised to speak with reservations about the rest of our trip, which was over a week. After a short night, we went to breakfast needing coffee and looking pretty rough. Gift welcomed us warmly, showed us how everything worked, and stayed calm when the room got crowded. He made excellent omelettes, helped sterilise baby bottles in the microwave, and shared useful local advice while being kind and attentive to the kids. Housekeeping kept the rooms fresh and clean around our irregular schedule and helped with the amenities we needed. What a lovely team and a welcoming place. We’ll be back!

The hotel is right in the heart of Cape Town, and the location is great. My room was spacious, neat, and clean, and reception staff were friendly and helpful. It’s a three-star hotel, but very good value for money.

For the price, it was a good stay. I arrived late and left early, so I only used the room and didn’t try breakfast. My only gripe was the R100 fee to park relatively securely, which I think should be included. Otherwise, you have to park on city-centre streets, which isn’t a good idea.

I’m so grateful to Liveni Lucky Tshangatshanga for sorting everything out for me today, and doing it in a split second. I’ve honestly never received this level of help before. Thank you for going above and beyond. I highly recommend the hotel and its services.
