We’d been in the house for less than two hours, and had already found broken furniture, smelly bathroom drains, grubby bath mats and bedside lights that didn’t work. The security shutters are broken, won’t stay closed and rattle loudly in the wind. The alarm system doesn’t seem to work either. We arrived at 5pm, but host Frankie had no interest in meeting us or giving us a proper handover. The keys had been left with security, and she seemed more eager to leave for her own holiday. She also hasn’t replied to the WhatsApp messages we sent at 20:30.
