Lady Hamilton Hotel

The breakfast is great, with several choices and eggs cooked to order. The rooms were less appealing, though. One had a really strong mould smell, so I was moved to a different room.

The place must have been grand in its day, and most of the staff were excellent. The bathroom had no ventilation and smelled awful. I hate to say it for fear of being called racist, but the only white staff member I saw was very uppity, and felt like a match for that stinky washroom. The lovely desk staff and the beautiful cook made up for the one unpleasant person.

I won’t return or recommend this place to family or friends. My room wasn’t cleaned for two days, and I had to go downstairs to ask them to do something about it. A constant, disturbing noise came from the bottom of the hotel on the left wing, like a power generator, and kept me up all night. The TV had only about five channels, with nothing interesting to watch. Staff were a little cold and barely smiled from the moment I arrived throughout my stay. I was given a slip of paper under the door about maintenance work, then had to put up with banging and drilling for hours, which made me feel very uncomfortable.

The room smelled damp and musty, and the odour got into all my clothes. People partied by the pool until 3h00 in the morning, making noise and playing music so loudly I couldn’t sleep. Nobody cleaned up the mess they left by the pool, and it was still there the next day. Staff wouldn’t deal with the party, and the manager was unfriendly. Worst experience ever!
