I’ve only been living here for two months, and I’ve already had an experience that left me feeling unsafe and disrespected. While I was working from home, several men were on my balcony without warning. I saw them staring at me when I came out of the shower. Nobody explained why they were there, and I was just expected to know. Management later said notices had been put up, but I’m rarely home during the day. No one contacted me directly or seemed concerned about residents’ privacy or safety. I wouldn’t recommend this place to women.

Waiting around because of a mix-up about cleaning put a damper on the stay. The nearby area also didn’t feel particularly safe, and the bathroom ventilation wasn’t working properly. The apartment itself was gorgeous, with modern, chic furniture, and the security staff were friendly. Online communication was smooth and efficient. Madison Place was stylish and cosy overall.

The gym’s a little small, but this is one of the best spots in Obs. It’s close to the action while still being relatively quiet and safe, and the building has helpful security guards.

Madison Place has a trendy feel and suits residents with a get-up-and-go attitude, whether they’re heading to work or study by car or bicycle. Trill Road is just off the property, and from there it’s a short walk to the shops and lively night spots along Obs Main Road.

The views of Groote Schuur Hospital and Table Mountain are amazing, and the apartments are newly built. There’s underground parking, a security desk and great gym facilities. It’s also easy for UCT students to get around since the Jammie shuttle route runs there, between Lower Main and Main streets.
