Monkey Valley Beach & Nature Resort

I’d been looking forward to trying Monkey Valley’s menu for Valentine’s dinner. It’s a special place for us, and I booked and confirmed by email with the restaurant manager. We were seated at 19:05 after a chaotic wait just to get to our table. We looked at the menu, but by 19:30 nobody had come to take our order. At 19:35 we finally ordered drinks, then found out we weren’t allowed to order from the menu on the table and had to choose from a set Valentine’s menu. I should have been told that when booking. If I’d known, I would have gone somewhere else. We tried to make the best of it and ordered from the set menu. They handed me a pen and asked me to mark our choices myself, which isn’t what I expect when I’m paying to be served. The drinks finally arrived at 20:00. The Margarita was awful, though the mojito was good. Our starter came at 20:15, 45 minutes after ordering and an hour and 15 minutes after we arrived. It was getting late, so I asked them to send the mains out. At 20:30 there was still no sign of them. I chased it up, was told they were on the way, and they arrived at 20:45. The flavor was good, but the food wasn’t hot, so it seemed to have been sitting on the pass for a long time. The manager asked if he could send the desserts, and I said yes. Fifteen minutes later he came back to say what we’d ordered was almost 2 hrs out and we’d have to choose something different. It was two hours of hell for what was meant to be a relaxing Valentine’s meal. We walked into an episode of faulty towers. The manager apologized and comped our drinks, which I appreciated, but blamed the awful service on staff not being used to a set menu. I’d like to give it another chance, but the reviews make it seem like this happens a lot. Very disappointed, and the toilets were filthy.
