Sacred Mountain Lodge

My dad and I were tired and hungry from a road trip, and after finding a few places fully booked, we pulled up at the closed gate with low expectations. Our host appeared within seconds of us pressing the intercom, let us in, and showed us two rooms to choose from. It turned out to be a beautiful find. The huge trees, peaceful setting and lovely rooms were just right for unwinding. Samantha and the staff couldn’t have been more accommodating. Maybe you could find a fault, but when people are that lovely, it’s hard to say anything harsh. Thanks so much, we’ll be back.

The cottages made it easy for our family to stay at the venue during our December 2024 wedding reception at Sacred Mountain Lodge. Samantha and her team were friendly and helpful, and the reception itself was beautiful. We also got to enjoy a complimentary night at the venue a year after the wedding, which was a real treat.

The venue has potential and is beautiful, but there’s no event permit, and the owner gets very defensive about it. We held our wedding there in May 2025, and the music had to stay very low because she was hiding from neighbours who were already upset about the missing permits. The neighbours were also investigating. We paid for an extra hour, though I’m not sure why, since our guests, including some who had flown in from overseas, couldn’t dance. The evening was cut short, and everyone was ushered out by 10:30. We couldn’t even dance to finish the night. I questioned the owner about what happened and was blocked on WhatsApp. I guess living with integrity isn’t for everyone. Guests staying at the venue also struggled with the cold and lack of hot water. Hot water bottles in Cape Town in winter might be the obvious answer. Honest owners would make this a five-star venue.

The rooms were spacious, the staff very friendly, and the location great. We loved our stay at sacred mountain lodge. It’s a bit expensive by South African standards, but all in all, very nice.
