Breakfast was a struggle. Tables sat uncleared, and after we placed our order three times, it took 45 minutes to get tea and coffee. The gentleman at the omelette station was the one bright spot, working efficiently and seeming to know what good service looks like. Dinner wasn't much better, with an overpriced menu that lacked value and substance. At arrival, no one helped with my luggage, and I fell at the entrance while trying to handle it myself, despite hotel staff standing nearby. The reception staff were cold and didn't even smile at check in or check out. It felt like they were doing us a favour instead of offering hospitality. The lack of care and basic courtesy left me wondering if our treatment had anything to do with my being a South African of Indian origin. I sincerely hope not, but the thought crossed my mind. This stay lacked attentiveness, hospitality and value, and I wouldn't recommend it.

The view was amazing, and so were the pizzas. I'd recommend the Masala Steak Pizza and the Cheesy, truffle oil pizza. The cocktails were seriously yummy too, especially my favourite, the Long Island Iced Tea. The barman and barwoman make tantalisingly gorgeous drinks. From the welcome cakes, donuts and freshly baked Christmas biscuits to the exquisite room, everything felt thoughtful. Check in was seamless, and the service was impeccable, professional and respectful. The staff had a quiet, delightful dignity in the way they interacted with me, which made these two days the best I've spent in a hotel this year. It felt like we were overseas. Wow, I'm officially in love with this hotel.

The restaurant was the downside. Both times, our bill was wrong, and whenever we ordered food we waited over an hour. Apart from that it was nice, and the staff were friendly. The rooms were neat and nice, though the bathrooms were tidy but small. The hotel was comfortable overall and the pool was amazing, the kids had the best time.

After being hospitalised her in CT, we had a blessed, beautiful stay. The friendly, dedicated staff made us feel welcome, and the platter over the weekend was an extra touch that put the cherry on top. Thank you, Tsogo Sun and Sun Square Gardens.
