Sabine and Anna were awesome hosts, and Kloof Street is just a five-minute walk away, with restaurants, bars, a supermarket, and more. We were in Cape Town for business for four nights, with meetings nearby, so all we needed was a clean, comfortable room and bed, plus a decent shower. The Cape Colonial met those basic needs, but that was about it. Our room was disappointing and badly in need of renovation and TLC. The furnishings were basic, very old, and well used, including a rickety double bed and a wardrobe. The toilet, shower, and sink were functional but needed work too. There was an in-room coffee and tea station. Other rooms might be better, but we can’t say for sure. They don’t serve breakfast, though there are plenty of choices a couple of blocks away.

I was there for a conference, and found the people warm and welcoming. Everything is close by too.

The host and hostess were really kind, and I loved the daily breakfast treats. The banana bread and apple muffin were so delicious that I’d take more than I needed just to enjoy them through the day. It’s a pretty bed and breakfast with colonial architecture. The slow wifi could almost have been switched off, and my fan didn’t work. With the heat and no fan, I didn’t get one good night’s sleep while I was there. I’m sure these problems are temporary and hopefully don’t happen often. If you sleep fine in hot weather or don’t mind slow wifi, I’d recommend staying here. If it had only been the wifi, I’d have given it four stars, but not getting proper rest really affected my rating.

The Cape Colonial is in a great part of Cape Town, and it’s easy to get to lots of nearby restaurants and attractions. I had a wonderful stay.

Such a lovely place. We felt very welcome, the location was excellent, and the room was great. Had a great stay with no complaints.
