The Fairways on the Bay

Being right by the beach gave the place such a great feel, and everything was kept in good shape. The staff, including the lady who helped us, were really friendly and took care of what we needed. We were offered a better room than the one we'd booked, too. We had a lovely time and would definitely come back.

We left instead of spending the night we’d booked for my birthday. The rooms were in such poor shape that even the better one the friendly staff offered us didn’t feel acceptable. The hotel calls itself four-star on its website, but the stained carpets, dirty sofas, broken things, peeling paint, crooked switches and rusty old appliances didn’t match that at all. There wasn’t even a two-prong plug to charge our devices or milk for tea and coffee. The place felt neglected, and the price was nowhere near justified.

The view was lovely, and our room was upgraded when we arrived, though we hadn’t booked one with that view. The place was clean and really beautiful, and the staff were warm, especially George. We also enjoyed eating at Mint Cafe. I’d definitely recommend it 🤗

I asked for help changing my booking, but reception didn’t seem interested in helping. When I requested a credit for one day just after arriving, they turned me down. My Atlantic room had a blocked drain, broken lights and a safe I couldn’t use because it was locked. I sent in a written report about the maintenance problems, and nothing was fixed. A very poor stay at Fairways.
