The Sentinel Luxury Apartments

Everything inside was perfect, and I’d happily stay here again and again. The surrounding area isn’t so great, with lots of undeveloped buildings nearby.

Getting in early was great, and the unit itself was nice, but it felt far too expensive for what you get. The area felt a bit sketchy to me, there aren’t shops nearby, and delivery through 60/60 took ages. The dryer and TV didn’t work, and I ended up having to do my laundry elsewhere because I had to go to work. During my stay, loadshedding ran from 4 pm until after 6 pm, then started again at 8 am and continued until I checked out. The security felt like too much. One guest had to sign in, show his ID, and have a photo of his face taken just to come say hi. When I asked the host about somewhere in another area for the next night, I got a snippy reply and no help. I found another place for the same price with much nicer facilities, and even got upgraded. Maybe give the area another year or two to develop before booking here. You win some, you lose some. Kind fegards.

The photos were pretty misleading. The place smelled odd, and the air conditioning didn’t work, even though it was 38 degrees in Cape Town.

The stay was great, but being given just one toilet roll for two nights was really disappointing. At 10:30 pm on the second night, we were told to buy our own, since there wasn’t any toilet paper anywhere in the hotel to give us. If extra steps are being taken for hygiene, that’s a strange way to handle it.
