Cherry picking in season is the real draw. The ripe, sweet cherries are lovely, and picking them is such a great activity. It’s at least a two-and-a-half-hour drive from Cape Town, so plan your time well. Entry is reasonable at R40pp. There are lots of shady trees for picnics and braais, excellent clean ablution blocks, and timber benches, water and power points at all the venues.

Such a lovely few days! Jana gave us a warm welcome, then we went cherry 🍒 picking and stayed in the excellent "Duck Pond Cottage". We’ll definitely do it again.

Our visit was amazing and became one of our favorite stops of the whole vacation. We spent nearly two hours wandering through the beautiful cherry trees, along with some apple and pear trees. It started and ended with the young woman at the gate, who explained the rules and treated us with so much kindness and professionalism. She’s truly a gem.

Bring tap water to wash the cherries. I’m sure they use pesticides, and we don’t want that in our kids. The handout with the varieties, given with the ticket, is useful. My favorite are the little plummy cherries with big pips, they’re the tastiest! I’d love to know the name of that tree. A little beach bucket for dipping the cherries and another for picking would be perfect. Enjoy, and bless the little ones. They’ll love it ♥️

It was a very hot day, but we had fun, and the kids loved their first time cherry picking. We’ve picked strawberries in George before, so we kept comparing it with the other activities at that farm. Here, there was only cherry picking, plus an ice cream and chips stall. Since it’s quite a long drive, I would’ve liked more activities so we could make a full day of it.
