Zebra Country Lodge

Travelling alone, I felt very comfortable here. The staff paid attention to the details and were always ready to help, the best team I’ve come across in all my travels. There was a good variety of food and refreshments, and the food was amazing. I’ll definitely come back with my family sometime soon.

A wild bat fell onto my head while I was asleep in the room, and when I woke up I found several more bats inside, including one flying around. This was a frightening health and safety failure. We tried the reception, the backup contact number and reservations, but nobody answered. The bats were wild animals and could have carried diseases, and we couldn’t get them out ourselves. They seemed to be attacking us as we packed, so we had to leave. At the gate, we were stopped from going until someone contacted a manager for permission. Because of this, we ended up driving home at 2am. It’s been a week since the incident. I contacted the accommodation, and they promised a refund, but I still haven’t received proof that it’s being processed. We had to abandon our booking, and the service was horrible. They failed to prioritize guest safety and, in my view, failed health and safety requirements. Don’t book here.

Meagan made the game drive the best part of the stay. She’s so warm and knows her stuff. Everyone was friendly and welcoming, though Meagan was my favourite, lol. The rooms were clean and just right, with cool air when we arrived and a peaceful night’s sleep. They’d left Doom in case any gate crashers showed up, lol. Such a lovely, authentic experience.

It was a birthday surprise getaway for my boyfriend, and we honestly had a great stay. Big thanks to the staff :)
