Villa the Cherry

We loved our stay so much that we added three nights because we didn’t want to leave. We’d stayed here in 2012 under different ownership and had always promised ourselves we’d return. We already thought it was an amazing villa, but Annie has put so much love, warmth, heart, and soul into it that it feels perfect. The setting is fabulous, at the edge of the village on the clifftop, with uninterrupted ocean views. We spent hours on the balcony watching Southern Right Whales, including mothers with their calves. Even in poor weather, the huge glass windows let you watch the ocean from one of Annie’s beautiful sofas. The architecture is exceptional, and I believe the villa was featured in interior and architecture magazines when it was built. It feels like walking onto a Bond movie set: luxurious, stylish, high tech, and sumptuous. Every detail has been chosen for comfort, design, and function. Annie’s taste is impeccable, and the place could easily fit into Vogue or Homes and Gardens. From our first contact, Annie was joyful to deal with, and nothing was too much trouble. Her care and love for Villa The Cherry extend to her guests, and she made us feel like treasured old friends. If you’re going to The Whale Coast, contact Annie and stay here. The beds are super comfortable, the swimming pool is perfect, and there’s plenty to see and do in the area. Still, the best thing is sitting on the balcony and watching whales cruise around the bay. No boat trip needed! Villa the Cherry is a special place, open plan and thoughtfully set up for a relaxing stay, with views to die for. Annick is a wonderful host and leaves a brilliant welcome pack. You can watch whales right in front of the house from a warm bed during whale season, and the sunsets are amazing. We had a great stay and will definitely be back. From the soft bed to the bath with its awesome view, and the little luxuries placed around to make the holiday special, Villa the Cherry made it easy to relax in luxury as soon as we walked in. Ten out of ten!

We spent 14 days in this chic, contemporary house, with mile after mile of unobstructed ocean views and beautiful fynbos. It’s private but full of light, and has everything you could want. The kitchen is beautiful and perfectly equipped, the linen is quality, and there’s a beans to coffee machine, excellent sound system, and a separate laundry room. Special touches include a moving wall that opens onto the nature reserve, a private pool, and automated blinds. Of all the luxury villas we’ve rented, this was my favourite. Thank you, Bjorn and Annick, for making the stay unforgettable and for the wonderful welcome basket of goodies waiting when we arrived.
