We loved how peaceful and private it felt, while still being close enough to walk to Umhlanga’s central spots. The staff were so thoughtful, from the evening turndown treats to the spotless daily housekeeping, and made us feel like favorite family. The rooms look straight out over the Indian Ocean, with views so lovely you just stop talking and stare. Breakfast was delicious every time. And the Christmas lunch was something else. When I asked if I could have seconds, the server smiled and said I could have as many as I liked. I felt seen. North Star Micro Hotel has that warm, personal kind of luxury, and we’ll definitely return, with stretchy waistbands.

The food was exceptional, and the location feels like a real hidden gem. At North Star Hotel & Restaurant, the beautiful rooms, attentive management, and incredible staff made the whole place special. I stumbled across this gem while walking along the beach with my cats, and I was blown away enough to book a few nights. I hadn't expected the place to feel so blissfully calm. The views were picturesque, the food was amazing, and service was efficient. Management was superb. I highly recommend it and will be back.
