PLM Palace Lodge

I booked two nights and liked the friendly environment, clean surroundings and welcoming reception. The parking was good and felt safe. I got up at 01H00 just after midnight to check it out and saw the roller lock-up gate. My taxi was safer there than at my home. I look forward to recommending the place and arranging more group trips for people from limpopo.

Rooms and bedding get dirty every day, so they should be cleaned and the bedding and towels changed daily, even for a weekend booking.

We booked “NYASA OCEAN VIEW” at 31 RUSSELL STREET through BOOKING.COM and were very disappointed. We arrived to find an old, run-down apartment block called “ GRAND RAPIDS”, with no sign of the place we had booked. The area felt scary and dangerous, with vagrants and unsavory characters nearby and litter scattered across the streets. We called NYASA but got no answer, and thought it was a scam. Our driver kindly took us to another hotel. After we kept trying to call, NYASA eventually contacted us and said we should have entered by the dirt side road behind P.L.M. PALACE LODGE. They agreed to refund us within 3 to 5 days, then refused a week later. The photos are misleading. If this place exists, it's in a slum area of DURBAN CITY. Stay away. BOOKING.COM was no help either, another huge scam in our view, since we couldn't contact them to complain and they didn't respond to the customer care email.

They handle clients well over the phone when you make arrangements, and walk-ins are treated with good manners too. The place feels cosy, with noise levels that are moderate to low, depending on the time of day or week. Compared with some of the worse places in the CBD, I'd recommend it.
