Otters Den Self Catering Cottages

The views were out of this world, and the romantic welcome made our honeymoon feel so special. There was champagne, strawberries, rose petals, and a gorgeous arrangement waiting for us at Otters Den. We’d give it more than five stars if we could. Many thanks from two very happy newlyweds, Mr & Mrs Delport do.

Snow fell on our first night and knocked out the electricity, but Christine and Grenville worked hard to keep us comfortable. The generator kept the lights on and geyser heating, while the electric blankets stayed warm and wood kept coming for the fireplace. We had an incredible stay, and you made it so special. Thank you!

My wife had never seen snow, so when we heard it might snow in Nottingham Road, we booked Otter's Den, our first choice because the rooms looked so inviting. The chalets lived up to that impression. The beds were incredibly comfortable, with an electric blanket on each side that lets you and your partner choose different temperatures. There's also a cheerful fireplace, a fantastic juccuzi bath, and a fully equipped kitchen. We appreciated the small details too, like salt and pepper, a hair dryer with an adaptor, and little bunches of flowers in the bedroom. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful. A fantastic place to stay.

There’s plenty to explore and do along the Midlands Meander, with beautiful scenery in every direction. The cottages have lovely views and are arranged to give everyone privacy. Everything was perfectly clean and comfortable. The last few kilometers are on dirt, though nothing serious for an average family saloon, and the drive is well worthwhile. Our previous visit was 17 years ago, before this year (2023), and it was even better than my nostalgic expectations. It’s just not easy to get here from Cape Town for a weekend. We’ll be back.
