Grootbos Private Nature Reserve

We had a fantastic three-night family stay at Grootbos Garden Lodge in a one-bedroom suite. I'm glad our safari consultants, Piper and Heath, told us about it. The suite had a great view, a huge bedroom with a comfortable bed and office area, and a large bathroom with a separate shower and tub. Our child's single bed was set up in the living room. It wasn't a rollaway or sofa bed, and was very comfortable. We enjoyed all the activities, including a Marine Big 5 tour, a visit to caves and the beach at Walker Bay Reserve, horseback riding, a botanical and fynbos tour, and hikes around the property. Jono was a great guide and very good with our child. We could easily have stayed another day. The team went out of its way for our child, with special room decorations and gifts. All the staff were great, and we especially want to thank Jono, Heidi, and Joanita. I highly recommend Grootbos for a family holiday. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

The cottage rooms are breathtaking, with stunning ocean views. The location is great, and the staff are friendly. We also enjoyed the wine list, which features some of the best wine in SA. The food and wine pairing is highly recommended.

We explored the 3'000 hq reserve in several ways, with safari vehicle drives, horseback riding, and walks. The complimentary activities were all different and interesting, and I highly recommend them. Our guide, Byron, was enthusiastic and knew a remarkable amount about nature and how ecosystems work. The quiet and privacy were wonderful, while the staff were always there with a smile whenever we needed anything. From the warm welcome to the friendly, professional service, the suite and activities kept exceeding our expectations. To the Grootbos family, my wife and I applaud you. You made luxury feel closely connected to sustainability and ecological preservation. We just checked out of the Garden Lodge and would turn right around to come back.

We've stayed here twice, and we'll definitely return. The accommodation and service are top class. In a beautiful setting, they treat you like royalty. I can't recommend it highly enough.
