Stoneridge Guesthouse

The owner was friendly and helpful, and the place was attractive, neat, and clean. The fridge had some refreshments we were trusted to pay for, and we did. The steps were the only issue for us to consider, though I mean that as a comment, not a criticism. I’d recommend it to others.

The breakfast and dinner were tasty, and I was welcomed with free sherry in my well-sized family room. The electric blanket had already been switched on when I arrived just before sunset. I wasn’t given the Wi-Fi password when I arrived. When I texted to ask, my message wasn’t read until the next day. There are a lot of very high steps to reception and the rooms, so I wouldn’t recommend the place for elderly or disabled guests.

A friendly, welcoming place that was warm and comfortable. The room had what I needed for an overnight stop, including an electric blanket and air conditioner for the cold nights. There was safe parking for the car. My only complaint was rubbish still in the bin, presumably from the previous guests.

I wouldn’t recommend staying here. Better to pitch a tent or sleep in your car. The guesthouse has been run into the ground. My family stayed in the same room under different management, which we only discovered afterwards. I’m not sure when the management changed, but they’ve done a sterling job of damaging the name that had been established. Why is the shower body wash mounted above the basin on the opposite side of the bathroom, when you need it in the shower? There were other problems too. The staff clearly didn’t like the idea of preparing breakfast for the only guests, us, so we skipped breakfast rather than eat there. It’s a shame. I didn’t even bother taking photos.
