Outeniqua Travel Lodge

What stands out most is the welcome. From the moment you come through the door, you feel at home. The communal kitchen and patio are ideal after a long drive or a day of work or sightseeing. There’s a decent bar and pizza restaurant right across the road, a supermarket just a few minutes away by car, and the city is about five minutes away, with a couple of turns and roundabouts. The building is lovely and old, tastefully decorated, and has a garden most people can only dream of. The rooms are clean, spacious, and well maintained. I’ve stayed in self-catering places across South African cities including George, Cape Town, P E, and Durban, in Namibia and Mozambique, elsewhere in Africa, and even Scotland. This one beats them all by a country mile. I’m baffled by the couple of very poor Google ratings. They can’t possibly be about Outeniqua Travel Lodge. People smoke funny things these days and get confused! My only hesitation about posting this is that next time I need to stay in George, I might have to find somewhere else. Everyone else, don’t hesitate. You won’t be disappointed.

I love the older style of the place, and the online photos really don’t do it justice. The outdoor area is beautiful, the kitchen and rooms are great, and the hosts are even better, so lovely and accommodating. There are three furry friends to keep you company too 😉

A perfect little hidden gem! If you’re travelling with pets, this place is brilliant. The garden and property feel very secure, even if your little Houdini is an escape artist. They took care of all our needs with a smile. Definitely not my last visit.

It’s been a year since our visit from Germany, but our group of four still talks about the good time we had, so we decided to share this. The Victorian-style rooms were very clean, the hosts were friendly, and we loved cuddling the two lovely pets by the fire. We had a great stay. Thanks so much!
