The sunrise through my window was gorgeous, all peach and guava twilight colours. The days are rather warm, but it gets a little chilly at night, which gives the building a different feel. I noticed a slight crack in the wooden floors and like to think they’re footsteps from the past. This is a peaceful gem at the foot of the mountain range. The house was built in 1880 and is rich with heritage. The rooms are spacious and luxurious, blending vintage style with a touch of modern design. Highly recommend this blissful, serene place. 🤍🌻

I stayed twice, in two different rooms. This old guest house has a really cool ambiance, and the staff were fantastic. Johan at the front desk was great. If you’re an Afrikaner, they speak your language.

Johan Brandt made us feel so welcome and took such good care of us. What an awesome experience in a beautiful place, with exquisite, well-kept gardens and everything you need. A real jewel. Thank you, Johan Brandt! ♡

Perfect for a business trip, with very secure parking and easy gate access by phone. The dinners and breakfasts were wonderful, and the service was exemplary and always came with a smile. Shady Pines Guest House is a magnificent vintage house full of character. The wooden floors, grand high ceilings, ornate fireplaces and furniture from another era all add to its charm. The rooms are warm, clean, beautifully decorated and very comfortable, with an en-suite bathroom, cupboard and drawer space, heaters, electric blankets and a TV.

Our group of 60 had a very successful annual planning meeting at Shady Pines, and we look forward to coming back. Thank you, Johan, for being so accommodating and flexible and helping make it all work. The conference hall worked really well, divided into a meeting room and dining area. The gardens were beautiful and tranquil, the rooms clean, and the staff helpful. The setting was so private and quiet that you’d never guess you were in town rather than the countryside. Our group was very happy with the environment, which added a lot to the event.
