The room had an unpleasant smell, and the carpet could do with a cleaning. Still, the service was excellent. The staff were very accommodating and did a lot to make our stay pleasant.

We were worn out and didn’t want to carry our luggage up the stairs, so the friendly, helpful reception staff moved us to a ground-floor room. The toilet flush was quite interesting. It’s a lovely place to stop, with a Mug and Bean for an early breakfast before heading back on the road.

The rooms were clean, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. They paid good attention to detail. I’ll definitely come back.

The air-con didn’t work, and we only found out when we arrived. We’d also asked for a camping cot, but they forgot about it, and the room didn’t really cater for children. In the family suite, the bath and shower were dirty, and the bathtub jets didn’t work and splashed water all over the bathroom. We expected more from a Protea Hotel, and we won’t be staying here again.
