I’d been waiting at the pickup point for four hours in the rain and cold, about 7° outside, after missing my transport to Johannesburg. By 5 p.m. I still hadn’t found anywhere to stay. Someone put me in touch with the owner of Reis n Rus in Harrismith, which was very well priced. The owner quickly got a room ready for me and made a plan. I was welcomed warmly and shown to a cozy heated room with the most comfortable bedding. I was so grateful to sleep warm while it rained all night. Thank you so much! Henry Jones

After my vehicle was in an accident, Mr. Pretorius helped me check in late at night and even came to pick me up where I was stranded. The bed was extremely comfortable. I’m so grateful for his help and accommodation.

Mel and her team made our one-night stop feel like home. They lit a fire, set out tables and chairs for our group, put up fairy lights, and offered us games. Everyone was so friendly and thoughtful. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with beautiful old pressed ceilings. It felt like stepping back in time while still having modern comforts. We’ll be back. Thanks, Mel, and good luck with the expansions and improvements.

When our car broke down on the way through Harismit, Mel helped us with so much more than she had to. My friend and I had a lovely stay, and the food was delicious. The rooms were really clean, and I had such a great time I almost forgot our car had broken down. I’d definitely recommend this place.

The warm, welcoming hospitality was the best part of our stay, though the room was beautiful and had everything we needed. If you need a place to stay while travelling through Harrismith, I’d highly recommend Reis n Rus. Thank you, Uncle Johan. We’ll definitely see you again!
