I especially enjoyed the museum and its antique items. After more than ten years without going away anywhere in South Africa, staying here felt like being at home. The apartments were amazing, and Anneke was a wonderful host, professional and friendly. She made us a healthy, delicious breakfast every morning. We'll return for long weekends, it's only an hour's drive from home.
At night, the lights on the water sparkle, and the dam view is beautiful. The place feels cozy and gets plenty of natural light. A lovely lady came by in the morning to tidy up quickly. The braaier is large and in good condition. I'd definitely recommend it and visit again.
Anneke, the manageress and hostess, really makes you feel at home and goes out of her way for guests. It's a great place to relax, with awesome pizzas and breakfasts, and you can have meals in your room. There's also a bar where you can get cocktails.
The history around the Hartebees dam is really interesting, including what happened there. Seeing all the infant graves in the old cemetery touched my heart and made me cry. The Chaléts are clean, comfortable and well equipped, and the staff are friendly and very helpful. I can honestly recommend this resort if you need a break from rushed city life. The units are nicely decorated, with a lovely view of the dam. The staff do a lot to make guests feel at home. We had a fantastic experience and will definitely stop by again.
