Auberge Provence

The Cliff Trail starts right outside Auberge Provence, and we saw whales and dolphins along it, including several whales breaching. From our ocean-facing balconies, we could also spot whales with their babies with the naked eye. It was magical and hard to describe. We’d left the last two days of our South Africa trip open, then booked this stay. The experience was a joy from the first phone call. Annie and her colleagues welcomed us so warmly, then served high tea. They took care of everything, from dinner reservations and activities to all the thoughtful little touches in between. Annie was especially lovely and delightful. The accommodations felt five-star, and they seemed to have thought of everything. The delicious food accommodated all our dietary needs. What a thoughtful, wonderful guest house. I can’t thank the team enough, and I can’t wait to come back.

We really enjoyed the breakfasts. The food was excellent, and having a hot breakfast was just right. The guest house is lovely and well placed. We were very comfortable, and getting to use the jacuzzi was a nice bonus.

The view was stunning, and it was good for watching whales. Our suite was large, with two bedrooms and a very big living room. We felt really looked after by the team. Before we arrived, they arranged a whale tour and booked a restaurant for dinner at our request. Many thanks for that. Anni, Sonette and the rest of the team genuinely care about their guests. The hotel is beautifully decorated in a Provence style, with so much care that it feels like being in France.

Anni was a great host, and the whole stay felt like a treat. The room was lovely and had lots of extras, and breakfast was amazing. It’s a warm, homey place with a really welcoming feel. One of the best places to stay in South Africa.
