Esplanade Hermanus

After our airbnb cancelled at the last minute, we managed to book here. The units are modern, roomy, and well equipped, and the central location is handy for great restaurants. Thanks for the great service. We hope to return many times!

The staff were friendly and professional, and the service was impeccable. Our rooms felt like a home away from home and had all the amenities we needed. This would be our first choice if we stay in Hermanus again.

The team really made our stay, always checking that everything was up to standard and ready to help. They even called when I left my leather jacket behind and arranged to have it delivered. Our 4N stay at Esplanade Hermanus at the waterfront was fantastic. The two-bedroom pool-view apartment was clean, thoughtfully designed, and fully equipped. We cooked breakfast and supper there almost every day. It's so close to everything, and probably the best serviced accommodation we've ever stayed in. Thanks a lot! 💯

I can't speak to the stay itself, since we never stayed there, though the place looks lovely and their communication was fine. What went wrong was our request to shorten the trip by one day. The website suggested a 10% charge for cancelled or amended bookings before a certain date, but I didn't realise that meant 10% of the entire booking, not just the day being cancelled. For a booking longer than 10 days, cancelling one day could mean getting back less than that day's cost. The longer you stay and the more you spend, the more you seem to lose for cancelling one day. I thought the policy was absurd and a total joke. We ended up cancelling the whole trip so I could spend my money somewhere more deserving. Please enjoy the money you've received for doing absolutely nothing! I'm giving two stars because I bet the place is great, but I hope this review encourages them to be more considerate in future.
