Waterbuck Lodge

We ended our South African wedding trip with four nights at Waterbuck Lodge for our honeymoon. Somehow, the staff made each day even better than the one before. Chantal welcomed us so warmly and helped with all our questions. Marnus, our guide, and Aubrey, our tracker, were a wonderful team. Their knowledge and experience made this a trip we’ll never forget. The cook and her assistant amazed us with the service, the five-star food, its presentation, and the whole atmosphere. We’re still trying to find words for how grateful and happy we feel. Thank you, Waterbuck Lodge. We hope to see you again soon!

The lodge’s small size worked really well for us. With at most eight guests in four cabins, the staff were attentive but gave us space. Roux, Vusi, and Anita were lovely hosts. The food was great and there was plenty of it. On drives, the tracker and ranger kept in touch by radio with several other teams to share sightings. We only later realized they used earpieces, which meant we didn’t have to listen to static-filled chatter we couldn’t understand from the viewing areas. We saw four of the Big Five on our first outing, then later completed the list with a pack of lions. We stayed at two reserves on this trip, and this one set a standard the other didn’t match.

We had a lovely stay and the staff were very kind. Cole, our guide, and the tracker were amazing on the game drives and went beyond what we expected. Well done, guys.

The game drives were spectacular, with so many animals. We especially loved seeing lions, leopards, buffalo, hyena, and baby elephants. Cole knew a lot, and our trackers Visu and Solly were brilliant. Waterbuck Lodge was part of our first safari holiday, and it was wonderful. The location was lovely, the accommodation luxurious, and our hosts welcoming and accommodating. The food was superb. A big thank-you to everyone for such a great experience.
