Our little dog was just as welcome as we were, and Chris and Ilonka took such special care of us. The little extras made us feel spoilt, well beyond what we expected from a place rated 3 star, and the stay was worth far more than we paid. There’s a lot to see around the midlands, and this is a great family spot, though you could easily come on your own too. I loved the quiet and magnificent views, along with the quirky German restaurant and bakery. Only small issue for our little car was a short stretch of sand road, so a slightly bigger car would be better. Definitely worth another visit.

The pool was lovely, though railings would make it easier for us oldies. Parking was a long way from our cottage, and the small bar fridge wasn’t enough for four days of food. The internet kept cutting out, no TV was a shame, and after I asked Chris for a maid on Friday, nobody showed up. The place itself was clean and well kept. We rested, ate too much, and the dogs enjoyed their walks, even if they growled at the horses. The pastries at the German restaurant were amazing.

We’ll definitely be back. Our room was spotless, with wild flowers as a thoughtful touch, and the hosts were warm and friendly. The restaurant is full of character, and dinner and breakfast were beautifully presented and tasted amazing. We also picked up fresh pasties from the bakery on our way out. It was a perfect weekend escape with a rustic farm feel.

I was extremely disappointed and wouldn’t recommend this place. The room hadn’t been properly cleaned when we arrived. Even worse, while we were out for the day, someone came into the room and took some of my things. I had the worst experience here, and wouldn’t recommend staying if you don’t want to risk being stolen from.

VERY DISAPPOINTED. The cottages were dusty and dirty, and nobody was around to help the guests. Our breakfast toast had mold on it. The shower barely worked, and there were no keys to lock all the cottage doors.
