We booked 10 rooms as a company at R950 per head. When we arrived, they told us that 2 of our guests had been downgraded for free to 2 very stuffy, sub-standard rooms next door. The host said he was only an assistant manager and that was the best he could do. He said 2 guests had decided to extend, so there was nothing he could do. Instead of telling the guests who wanted to extend that the room was already taken, they put you next door in something that looks worth only 20% of what you paid for. We insisted we wouldn’t sleep in that dump, and they provided a room for one person. I was the one left without a room. Be careful when booking: even if what you paid for is available, you might still be downgraded to something cheap. Maybe they’ll be reserving it in case they get more business. Also, the assistant manager is the rudest person under the sun. He’ll tell you, “I have told you already there is no room,” even though you booked and they happily took your money. Book at your own risk.

We chose this establishment purely for its location. The rooms were clean, but there was no attention to detail, and I don’t think its 4 star rating is accurate. We paid for 2 guests, so why were the needs of only 1 guest provided for? The only drinks were rooibos tea and Ricoffy, and there was nowhere in the bathroom to put anything down. My suggestion to the host: if you want to be in hospitality, get with the program. You need to smile, be assertive and pay attention to your guests.

The rooms were comfortable and nicely presented, and the receptionist was helpful and easy to talk to. The bar attendant wasn't always around, so we sometimes had to order drinks when we could. Still, it was a good, safe stay.
