Saxon Hotel, Villas and Spa

The welcome at the gate set the tone, and everything from check-in and our villa to the terrace restaurant, butler service, and formal dinner felt special. Every staff member was polite, friendly, and smiling around the clock. This is the one Johannesburg hotel where I felt at home away from home. I highly recommend it if you're passing through, and the management deserves congratulations for the experience.

We shared lunch after our separate massages, then had our manicures and pedicures together, which made for plenty of fun conversation. The whole spa day was a birthday treat for a dear friend, and all three of us had a wonderful time. She couldn't stop talking about it, and we couldn't have made her feel more spoiled. At the Saxon Hotel in Sandhurst, every therapist took time to understand what each of us wanted and shaped the treatments around that. Nancy, the beauty therapist assigned to me, said she could never leave the Saxon Hotel Spa because she hadn't found another place with the same standards. After experiencing it, I understand what she meant. The welcome was warm and relaxing, and they even warmed our slippers. The attention to detail really stood out.

There’s a real sense of being part of a rich heritage when you visit, and this Sandton institution knows how to host intimate events. It was a great experience overall. Some of the waiters seemed flustered and service from them could feel a little lukewarm, but the doormen and other general staff were very good.

I’ve had a good experience each time I’ve stayed. The hotel feels familiar and safe, and the staff are professional while still being helpful. Rooms and bathrooms are very clean, with a proper daily clean rather than a quick surface tidy. It’s also comfortable and convenient.
