Sibuya Game Reserve

Our two days at the Rivercamp were fantastic. Day one began with a lovely boat trip there, then Matt guided us through the flora and fauna as our ranger. He taught us a lot, and even brought us the ibis birds each morning. Thanks to Matt for the great service, and to all the staff. Greetings from Roland and Charlotte in the Netherlands.

The boat trip to Sibuya was a real bonus on our enjoyable day out. Our guide G was friendly and knew a lot, even recognising bird calls, and made a real effort to find the species we wanted to see. We had a tasty lunch with drinks included in a lovely open air lapa with a perfectly African feel. Thanks, Sibuya. We’d certainly recommend this worthwhile experience.

Our son, who’s almost 4, is still talking about his first safari weeks later, now that we’re back in the U.S. The team made the day educational and fun for him, paced it beautifully for a young child, and made us feel like the experience was tailored to our family. Sadie was especially wonderful: knowledgeable, capable and intuitive about what would excite him, while keeping him included and engaged. She managed to make it magical for him and a high-quality safari for us adults. We were lucky to see 4 of the Big 5, and were impressed by the reserve’s conservation work and all the knowledge shared along the way. The boat ride from Kenton-on-Sea was fabulous, with lots of birds to see and learn about. Lunch was delicious, with a kid-friendly meal and activities ready for our son. We’ve been on many game drives around South Africa, and this was truly top quality from start to finish. We couldn’t recommend Sibuya more highly to experienced safari-goers or families trying it for the first time.

Our guides, Matt and Jay, made the game drives extraordinary. Matt taught us so much about the wildlife and environment, and the two of them had such a great rapport that every outing came with plenty of laughs. We saw a variety of animals, including most of the big 5, remarkably close, and each evening ended with snacks and drinks as the sun set. At River Camp, Chris, Hannah and the team made every meal a delight and handled everything with real warmth and care. They even surprised us honeymooners with an intimate three-course dinner beautifully set up in our lodge, a thoughtful romantic gesture we’ll always remember. From the moment we arrived, we felt so welcome. Sibuya Game Reserve River Camp went beyond our expectations, with adventure, luxury and heart. We left smiling, full of memories, and can’t wait to remember this trip for years.
