Kimberley Manor Guesthouse

I left the establishment feeling threatened and unsafe, so I packed my things and went. I wouldn’t recommend staying here. I’d asked for the owner over the water problem, but a man came to my breakfast table instead. He was aggressive, waving his hands and acting erratically. When I politely asked if I could finish breakfast, he said he wanted nothing to do with me or our company’s booking lady and told me to leave his premises immediately. I’d booked two nights. On arrival, the toilet and basin had very low pressure, so I thought it might be a municipal issue and waited until morning. The taps were still barely dripping, and I ended up using my own bottled water to wash from the basin. At 7:50 am, I asked a man about the water at breakfast. He said the pump had tripped and was now fixed, and that the person living on the premises hadn’t told him, so it wasn’t his problem. That isn’t how an owner should respond to a client’s concern about water.

The room was one of the most beautiful and comfortable places I’ve stayed this year, and I enjoyed my time at the Kimberley Manor Guesthouse. I loved the interior details: the curtain patterns matched the furniture, the beige colour carried through the room and bathroom, and the beads on the shower window curtains gave the place a distinctive, luxurious touch. The room itself was beautiful and luxurious while still comfortable. I also liked the Android box connected to the TV, which let me stream music from YouTube or watch dstv. The extractor fan in the bathroom was very noisy, though, and since it came on with the light switch, it was hard to use the bathroom at night. In the morning, the Kimberley sun lit up the luxurious bathroom, which had both a bath and a shower. The guesthouse rules felt too restrictive. I understand it was still Covid 19, but we were at lockdown level 2, with eased regulations, and I don’t think Covid 19 should be used as an excuse not to give clients the best service. The receptionist’s cold, distant manner also made me feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. It was my first time in Kimberley, and that wasn’t the kind of welcome I wanted. The room helped me feel comfortable. A little TLC for the pool area would help it feel more luxurious, since it would look like the place was being cared for. Breakfast could also be better if Covid 19 regulations were eased, given we were on level 2.

Ann was so warm and caring as a host, please thank her for me. I travelled all the way from Johannesburg on my own, and the stay felt safe and homely. Thank you for making me so comfortable!

After travelling all day, we were left dealing with terrible service. We waited three hours outside the gate, and nobody had the decency to open it or tell us that the Rennies account was suspended. We would have paid cash if we’d known, but instead we had to find somewhere else to stay. You’ve lost potential clients, and this behaviour was unacceptable. We understand you have issues with Rennies, but why take it out on your clients?
