Protea Hotel by Marriott Klerksdorp

The water problem I reported at 8:00 am still wasn't fixed by 12:00 pm. There was no hot water and barely a trickle from the taps. I was then told it was just a simple switch issue. Couldn't someone have checked that? Four hours without a fix is unacceptable for a hotel of this standard. The response was poor, communication was lacking, and guest comfort clearly wasn't a priority. This disappointing stay at Protea Hotel Klerksdorp fell short of expectations, and I wouldn't recommend it based on the service.

There's a truck loading cars at the far end of the hotel's premises, in the parking lot, and it keeps turning its engine on and off. I can't sleep. I called reception for help, but the truck has been here forever. It's been making this noise since around 17:00 and it's still here. I literally feel like it's in my room. Look at the time, it's 22:54 😭😭😩🤕

Retabile at reception really stood out. She was warm, accommodating, and checked in to make sure our room was comfortable. My family and I have felt welcome since we arrived, and we’re still enjoying our stay. We appreciate the consistently high level of service and look forward to the rest of our visit. Thanks for making it memorable. We’ll happily recommend the hotel.

The reception team are lovely, always smiling and kind, and the place is wonderful. Check-in was easy and the food is great, though I keep finding strands of hair in the food packages. The kitchen and dining staff are nice too, apart from the lady supervisor or manager, who seemed grumpy and had an attitude. The woman cleaning my room wasn’t very nice either. I’d still come back. 😊
