The house has a lovely antique feel, but the repeated power trips made the stay uncomfortable. There was no air conditioning in the summer heat, and even a table fan would have helped. I ended up sleeping in the dark and heat, and came across lots of spiders too. I hope management gets the electrical work sorted soon and makes some improvements.

Getting luggage from the car up to the house is quite a trek, especially with heavy bags. Inside, it felt a little stuffy, perhaps because it had been closed up for a while, so airing it out before guests arrive might help. The house itself is gorgeous, with lovely views in a beautiful central spot near the shops and restaurants. It was great having the whole place to ourselves.

The climb up all those stairs could be difficult for older guests, and the house isn't wheelchair friendly. We still really enjoyed staying there and felt at home. 11 on Protea is well maintained, with three bedrooms that each have an ensuite, including a main bedroom with a shower and jacuzzi. The kitchen has a gas stove, washing machine and tumble dryer. There's also a deck pool and breathtaking views over Thesen Island.

We had a great time working from Knysna instead of home. The furnished four-bedroom house at 11 Protea has a private pool and sea views from the living room and balcony. Shops and other things are nearby, and there are water activities, national parks and a zoo park to visit. We had a really good stay and would say it's worth trying at least once.

The cookware and utensils were dirty and outdated. Cleanliness was poor overall, and the accommodation seemed to lack maintenance.
