Breakfast and dinner were fresh, varied and made with care, and we loved the peaceful setting with easy access to the surrounding area and beach. The room was spotless, comfortable and beautifully kept, with everything we needed to relax. From the moment we arrived, the hosts made us feel welcome. They're attentive, friendly and clearly care about making guests feel at home. Their local tips and extra thoughtfulness really stood out. We had a wonderful stay and would gladly return. We came away from our 10 days in Knysna very glad we'd chosen bWhale. We were there in July for specialist medical surgery and several checkups, and didn't know the area well enough to feel sure where we'd be comfortable for that long. We wanted somewhere quiet and safe, with local insight from people on site rather than just a reception desk. The genuine, enthusiastic reviews helped us decide, and so did the fact that the owners run the place themselves. From arrival to departure, we were treated like family. The rooms are spacious, immaculate and comfortable. They were a little cold in winter, but the heater and electric blanket took care of that. The courtyard adds a nice sense of space, and the semi-rural garden is peaceful, with lots of trees, bushes and birds. There are spots to read or relax outdoors, and someone was always around to bring tea or coffee. Good security helped us feel at ease, especially at night. The food was beyond what we expected, excellent home cooking and baking. Breakfast could be adjusted to suit us, and dinners were varied and hearty, never small. Everything was made with love. After 10 days in a hotel, I think we'd have tired of the food, but here we looked forward to dinner each evening. The family team, originally from Belgium, are genuine, friendly and keen to help you enjoy both your stay and Knysna. bWhale Guest House more than met our expectations, and we highly recommend it. The owners welcomed us warmly, and we had a fantastic breakfast the next morning: freshly baked bread, quiche and Belgian pastries. We only stayed one night at bWhale, which sits quietly up a hill among the trees. Our room was spacious and nicely styled. Definitely recommend it.

When our group of seven colleagues arrived at bWhale Guest House after a long drive for the Simola Hillclimb, the owners and family greeted us like old friends. They helped with our luggage and made us feel at home straight away. It was clear this would be a very personal stay, not an impersonal hotel. We were in Knysna for work, but the warmth of the place often made us forget that. The hosts checked in about our days and whether we needed anything. When they heard we had to leave early for the Hillclimb one morning, they insisted on making breakfast at dawn so we wouldn't set off hungry. On late, tiring evenings, there was often a pot of hot coffee waiting for us. Those thoughtful gestures made us feel valued and cared for like guests in someone's home. What began as a practical business trip stay turned into one of the highlights of our visit. The hosts' kindness made long workdays end on a happy note, and we left having finished our work with our hearts full. We even lingered to chat on checkout day. Thank you to the hosts and whole team for such a memorable stay. We can't wait to return next year, perhaps for a holiday so we can enjoy even more of your hospitality.
