We arrived at Au Plais De Langebaan B&B on 19 December as a group of six, after my mother had booked directly with a woman whose name I unfortunately can’t remember. She had confirmed the booking and arrangements with my mom on WhatsApp, and received both the deposit and full payment. But the two women at the door seemed surprised to see us. They called the manager/owner, who came down and said she had no record of a booking or payment. My mom showed her bank statements, and only then did they say it was a double booking. After travelling all the way from Cape Town, that was completely unacceptable and unprofessional. They eventually offered another house “just down the road.” A cleaner had to drive us there, unlock it, and then walk all the way back alone. The place was poorly stocked and managed, with no black refuse bags for the bins and only half a roll of toilet paper. Breakfast was just as bad. The coffee was cold when we arrived Saturday morning. One staff member came into the kitchen without greeting or speaking to us, put things down, and left. The food was extremely oily, and the kitchen and pans were in shocking condition. While we waited by the pool, someone in our group spotted a small packet of dagga on the ground. I felt disgusted and completely uncomfortable. I became very ill later that afternoon, vomiting through Saturday night and Sunday morning and unable to eat. After we got back to Cape Town on Sunday and I showered, I noticed bite marks all over my body. They were most likely bed bugs or something similar. This place needs proper management and a thorough deep clean. The rude replies to negative reviews online are concerning too. I’ll never recommend it to anyone.

At 19:00 on 18 December 2025, my first night at Au Plais De Langebaan was unpleasant. The toilet seat and towel rail were broken, and the hand basin tap was loose. The room was separated from the one next door by a door, but we could hear the other visitors talking. The pool wasn’t clean, and the pictures on the site didn’t match what we found. After paying R6000+, I didn’t feel I was getting value for money or good service. It was disappointing to see the difference between the photos and the place in real life. I also want to thank the owners and management for understanding and helping us. They changed our room, which showed me they cared about their visitors. That action changed how I felt about people, and made me believe they saw a guest’s stay as more than income. I appreciate everything you’re doing, including repairing and cleaning the pool. Thank you for making the stay memorable.

The place was okay, though it could use an upgrade and didn’t look quite as good as the photos. Room 2 is upstairs, with its bathroom just outside rather than ensuite, which wasn’t convenient since I need the loo several times during the night. It only has a bath, no usable shower, because the shower in the tub isn’t connected properly. Room 1 is next door, and we could hear people talking there.

I wouldn’t recommend staying here. I was there for the week, and it was just terrible. Ants were all over my room, including inside the fridge, so I had to throw away a lot of food. The toilet seat wasn’t attached properly, and the bathroom door ran on a small track held by one screw, without covering the whole doorway. The showerhead kept spraying water onto the floor outside the shower.

The place has a peaceful feel, just what I needed as someone who’s self-employed. It looks like a movie set, and my daughter and I loved the different decor themes. I also enjoyed chatting with the owner and staff, and the hospitality and delicious breakfasts each morning deserve real praise. The weather was great too. Going away for Easter was a last-minute decision for me, but I’ll plan another Langebaan visit and stay with Au Plais De Langebaan again. I strongly recommend it, and Jean, Nicky, and Lizzy were great hosts. The Griffith Family. *****
