The food at Cape town fish market was lovely, though the restaurant itself was good but not great and looked tired. Staff tried their best to make up for the worn look. I only went in to eat and didn't stay there, and was glad of that. It had the feel of a posh Butlins, as Brits will know. If that's what you're after, go for it, but it wasn't for me. The food was good through.
The room service was magnificent. I loved the little touch of having our bags put away in the closet, something you don't usually get at an ordinary place. The rooms themselves were quite nice, though I've stayed in better, and I noticed some maintenance issues: the stair railing in Room 775 was very loose and seemed close to collapsing, and there appeared to be fungi growing beside the shower and on the bathroom wall near the basin. There are lots of things to do around the resort, including snorkelling, mini acrobranch, the carnival, and plenty of games. Some activities are quite expensive, which could put potential clients off. The service was generally okay, though nothing to brag about, and most of it was simply good rather than special. The quizzes were enjoyable sometimes, but at other times too complex, often relying on Western Cape specific knowledge. More general global knowledge would work better. P.S. You might want to pack a swimming cap, thank me later.
We stayed busy from dusk to dawn, with the carnival, pools, gym, restaurants and activities all on offer. Everything was affordable and thrilling, and the whole resort felt like a holiday on its own. The house was cozy, clean and really comfortable. Absolutely fabulous, we'll definitely come back.
The food options on site aren't great if you're after something flavourful. And winter isn't a good time to bring kids here, since there isn't much to keep them entertained beyond the small indoor pool, table tennis and pool. Service has slipped recently too, and the units that used to be clean and well maintained no longer seem to be kept that way.
There were so many activities for kids and adults, and we really didn't want to leave. The view was breathtaking, and the place itself is unbelievably beautiful. We were two couples, and when I called to ask if they could make the two beds in their bedroom into one, they came right away. They also replaced a bulb when we reported that the light wasn't working. I'm so impressed. I'd gladly return and recommend it to anyone looking for a holiday.
