Not a new place, but clean, tidy and functional. The rooms are good and have their own bathrooms, with a shared lounge. For a backpackers, it’s useful and a good option. You can book here.

The cleanliness is what earns the stars for me. The room itself is very basic and tiny, with two single beds, one very soft pillow and one towel per person, and no extra blankets. The built-in dresser and chair aren’t really suitable for adults. The kitchen and lounge are communal, though no one explained that when we were shown the room and given the keys. We had to ask. We were told this place used to be for backpackers but was now suitable for families, yet two adults were put in that tiny room. My teens rolled towels up to use under their pillows. Another real irritation was having to find out the load shedding schedule ourselves as visitors from out of town. It costs nothing to tell guests, and we got caught out.

The hosts are lovely and ready to handle requests, and they can arrange longer stays too. I spent a week here and loved the whole experience. Shark Bay, the yacht club and several beaches are all within walking distance. It’s affordable, comfortable backpacker-style accommodation with a shared lounge and kitchen. Each room has its own bathroom, and the beds vary, with doubles, singles and bunks.
