I’ll remember this as a lovely stay, though a few things could have been better. The standard rooms looked tired and dated for the price, and the online check-in didn’t work, so I had to chase things up before we arrived. I also would’ve appreciated being greeted by the owner, who was staying at the property. A slight language barrier with one staff member made some moments uncomfortable and frustrating. The location is beautiful, just a stone’s throw from the lagoon. We accepted the reasonably priced upgrade to the main room, 'Oyster', for my mother, and its stunning deck gave us a direct sunset view. The linens were crisp and good quality, and the minibar had a wide selection at fair prices. Sandra kindly provided vegan and ethical breakfast options, though I felt one sausage was a bit stingy. There was ample parking outside, and being able to see our car made us feel safe.

The breakfast was okay, but rather unimaginative. Other guests said it was the same every day. The house was noisy too, with kitchen sounds echoing through it and waking me by 7:30 at the latest, so sleeping in wasn’t possible. I’d expected more from the pictures and reviews. Fortunately, I only stayed one night, since otherwise the return trip to Cape Town would have been too late, and it was strongly discouraged. The photos were clearly edited. The place looks like it hasn’t been this way for a long time, and it’s showing its age, with a dingy, unkempt feel. I’m blonde, but found long black hairs stuck to the bathroom tiles. That’s not acceptable.

We arrived at Sandra's Guesthouse without high expectations, then got a wonderful surprise. It’s described as a 3-star place, but it deserves to be 5 stars. I’ve stayed at many guesthouses in my life, and this is easily one of the best. What an awesome experience.

A very bad experience. There was no hot water in the room, and the tea and coffee came without milk. Guest house staff were only available during working hours.

I treated my wife to a weekend away for our 4 year anniversary, and we had the best weekend thanks to Sandra's Guest House. The stay was spectacular, with great views, great food, and amazing, friendly staff. It’s super close to the beach for late afternoon walks. Highly recommended, 10/10.
