Thali Thali Game Lodge

We went to the game lodge as a family, including our small child, and had a great time. The drive there was beautiful, the service was excellent, and seeing buffaloes up close was truly special. We stayed in the old farmhouse, a simple and comfortable place with plenty of character that suited the surroundings. The sunsets were breathtaking, and the calm atmosphere left us feeling grounded and rested. Even tame antelope wandered right up to us, so nature felt wonderfully close. The game drive was spectacular, with giraffe, zebra, buffalo, antelope, and even a gentle tortoise encounter. The reserve is peaceful and spacious, and the wildlife seems relaxed and unhurried. We left content and grateful. A deeply restorative getaway, highly recommended if you need quiet, room to breathe, and a real connection with nature.

We had a fantastic day, with an amazing game drive and a delicious lunch afterward. Two team members came along and gave us an engaging explanation of the farm and animals. Seeing them up close was unforgettable. Even without booking the drive, the food alone makes a visit worthwhile.

We only came for lunch and the game drive, so I can’t comment on the rooms or lodges. Lunch was perfect. We sat in a lovely shady spot overlooking the reserve, with a cold beer. What more could you want? The midday drive was a great experience, though the vehicle had a bad day and we got stranded about twice. These things happen. We still saw nearly all the animals we’d been promised, including giraffes and buffles from really close up. Everyone did their best, and it’s a friendly, nice lodge experience that’s worth the visit. One thing to keep in mind: I wouldn’t take a child under 12 on this tour. The ride is very bumpy, and getting out when there are difficulties isn’t standard. I wouldn’t bring my little child along.
