Longtom Farm Guest House

I felt uneasy and unsafe after an aggressive encounter, and had trouble sleeping that night. I’d booked online around 7 PM after my reservation was confirmed. I had first called to ask about availability but got no answer. When I arrived at 9 PM, a note at the gate asked guests not to hoot, so I initially followed that. I called the number on the note and got no response again, then hooted until the gate finally opened. A barefoot young man came out yelling at me for hooting and said I should have called. I told him I had, but he threatened to cancel my booking and demanded that I leave. I stood my ground and asked for a refund. Things seemed to calm down somewhat when my husband arrived. The man said he’d cancel the booking on his laptop. I texted him asking for proof of payment or the keys, since he’d left me outside in the cold, and he eventually gave me the keys. The road to the venue was in poor condition, and the shower setup was awkward, with a basin inside that made brushing my teeth without getting soaked difficult.

The rooms were cozy, the surroundings peaceful, and the service exceptional. At Longtom Farm Guesthouse, the staff took care of every detail and went the extra mile from the moment we arrived. The warm, welcoming atmosphere and the team’s friendly manner made us feel right at home. They were always ready with a smile and helpful suggestions, and it was clear that guest satisfaction mattered to them. We left feeling refreshed and grateful for their care. Highly recommended for a comfortable, friendly, relaxing getaway.

We ended up extending our stay by four days, and I sincerely hope to see the owners again soon. The hosts gave us a warm welcome, and both they and the staff were so kind and helpful that I could have stayed forever. Outside Lydenburg but still close to town, the Lodge has gorgeous, inspiring surroundings and is a perfect place for peace and quiet. The dirt road is gentle enough for small cars too. I can’t remember the last time I praised a Lodge this highly, and every word is meant. Wishing the owners good luck.

We were sorry to leave and will definitely come back soon. The guesthouse is surrounded by lush gardens with a mountain view, and it’s so peaceful there. From arrival to departure, everything went smoothly, and the management and staff were friendly and helpful.
