First Group Palm Park

The beds and rooms were extremely comfortable, and the unit was clean. The cleaning staff were friendly and did a very good job. There was a musty smell, apparently from being so close to the ocean, though some candles might help. The balcony and braai area both need upgrades. The braai space also needs to be more secure and private.

The kids enjoyed our stay in Margate, and being able to walk to the beach was lovely. There isn't a pool on site, so we had to drive to Margate Sands for the children to swim. The apartments need better upkeep. In Unit 11, the bathroom started leaking, so we were moved to Unit 14. That one was better, but the carpets in the second bedroom smelled like cats, and the rusty windows in the main bathroom felt unsafe to open. The Dstv remote was missing its cover for three days, until we found it under the couch. There were bread crumbs there too, and it was clear the area hadn't been cleaned for a while. The cleaning service needs to improve. Things shouldn't only be fixed after guests complain.

Cathy at Reception was so friendly and helpful, easily a 12 out of 10. We had a nice stay otherwise. The inside is beautiful, though the place could use some attention. There isn't a pool, but you can swim at Costa Smerelda. The area next to Palm Park was very noisy, and we didn't feel safe there.

Unit 5 was appalling. It smelled musty and had mould everywhere. Loud music kept coming from the low cost housing next door, along with constant noise. I don't see how you can run a 'resort' with that going on. We needed another holiday after this one. I won't come back, and I want a refund.
