Alimop Lodge Inn Bed and Breakfast

I wasn’t offered breakfast, though I’m not sure whether it was supposed to be included with the BnB. The parking area was also very cramped, and I didn’t enjoy my stay. Maybe the pricier rooms upstairs are better, but based on the room I had, I’d give it one star. The bathroom had a shower, toilet and sink, with nowhere to set down a toothbrush or toiletry bag, so mine ended up on the floor. There was too little light at the table for studying or laptop work, and no bedside stand for belongings, leaving the top of the fridge as the only place to put things. The blankets weren’t suited to travellers, either. The paint drips all over the place looked unsettling. The furniture felt rushed and poorly finished, and the headboard attachments on the wall were particularly messy.

Alimop guest houses were spotless, with white bedding and towels, and I loved how clean the showers were. I’d recommend the lodge to anyone who values cleanliness. The owner saw me stranded with my luggage, sitting at reception without anywhere to sleep. He insisted on driving me himself and arranged another place for me at one of his lodges in a different area. Thank you, sir, for showing such humanity. God bless you.

The staff are warm, attentive, and ready to help with what guests need. After staying a while, the place feels like home, and even the neighbours are friendly. For an affordable, comfortable stay in Midrand, Alimop is a real bargain.

The shower in my room was blocked, as the photos show, and I’m definitely not coming back. I booked because I expected English/Irish breakfast and WiFi, which an earlier lodge had said they offered, but this place was even worse. There was no breakfast, with the explanation that guests weren’t eating it, and the WiFi barely reached outside my room, with no signal in the room itself. I have to wonder how they got a 7 star rating. Owners, a little honesty goes a long way. If zero stars were an option, I’d choose it. I don’t trust liars or false advertisers.
