The hotel entrance is beautiful, and the food was delicious with very good prices. But the dining area needed more cleaning. We waited a long time for someone to clear our table, even though it wasn’t busy. Diaz Beach has lost some of its old appeal for us. There’s no longer a jacuzzi or indoor pool like there used to be, and the indoor pool was a great play space for small children. It feels cold rather than homely, and there should be more for younger kids. We miss the concerts too. Now there’s only Matrick Bay, and once that’s over, things feel quiet and cold. The old convenience shop was handy when we’d forgotten something, with swimwear, hats, sunglasses, boogie boards, and other things close by. We think that would be more useful than all the little shops and estate agents. The gift shop is a nice spot for presents, and the gym is a good idea, but the coffee shop outside the hotel takes up a lot of space. I rang the bell at the Beauti Salon, but nobody came to the front. We’d like the old Diaz back.

From check-in to the time we left, the service was warm and friendly, from reception and most of the cleaners. Everything was stylish, neat, and clean, and it was quiet. Our privacy was respected the whole time. We’re already planning another visit and have recommended Diaz hotel to friends and family for a lovely holiday. See you soon!

We booked the honeymoon suite on the 9th floor for four days and ended up staying two weeks. The view and service were wonderful, and I’m hoping to come back soon.

I was travelling alone and left very disappointed. The hotel is extremely overpriced, with a steep premium to stay there, and Mossal Bay doesn’t seem commercially developed enough to offer many alternatives. I’d suggest AirBNB. The views are somewhat worth the roughly 250% accommodation premium, but seeing kids going to the bathroom at the bar spoiled that. The building seems old and has been renovated rather poorly, from what I could tell. The lifts are old and have problems. Staff weren’t very helpful with suggestions for places to eat or things to see. The hotel restaurant was terrible, the bar was overrun by kids, and the only other option was Indian food. I found it better to drive to the old Dorp area, where there are brilliant places to eat and much better bars. For the price and premium, I don’t think it’s worth it. It feels like a terrible example of Western Cape hotels trying to take South Africans’ hard-earned money.

All the rooms at Diaz beach resort face the beach, and there’s private beach access. The restaurants are great, including an Indian one, and there are plenty of food trucks by the beach entrance. It gets lively during the day and in the evening, and it’s easy to grab a drink and enjoy it on the beach. The hotel doesn’t provide amenities for free, so remember to bring your dental and wash kit.
