The staff couldn’t have been more helpful, and breakfast was delicious with lots to choose from. The dining room and guest room both look out across the bay. It’s in a quiet area, close enough to the beach and other attractions. The house feels cosy, like home, and it’s the most comfortable guest house I’ve stayed in. I’d definitely come back to Mossel Bay, and this would be my first choice. 10 out of 10.

Breakfast comes with a lovely ocean view from the tables. There’s fried or scrambled egg, or an omelette with bacon or mushrooms and tomatoes. You can also have muesli with fresh cut fruit and yoghurt, plus tea or coffee. The rooms are really clean, and the architecture felt unusual to me. I was fascinated by it, and the place has its own charm. It’s quiet, in what I thought was a safe neighbourhood, and there’s a guest garage.

The room was damp and smelled musty, and the owners showed no consideration for their guests. We were below their entertainment area, where they made so much noise we couldn’t sleep. Our towels had bleach marks; when we complained, they gave us pool towels instead. I could say more, but that gives you the idea. It was shocking and overpriced. We would have checked out and found somewhere else if we could.

The room looked run down and definitely wasn’t 4 star. The linen wasn’t ironed, there was a used toothpick in the bedside drawer, and a snail was crawling around the room. The ashtray at the smoking corner was overflowing. The bathroom had mould, and there was no remote for DSTV. Lastly, no staff member serving breakfast, or the owner, wore masks, even though Covid regulations required them.

The friendliness was 5 star quality, and the sea view was long overdue for me. What a treat, it felt like a home away from home. My company will support you for years to come.
