From check-in to check-out, the service at Protea Guesthouse was wonderful. The staff are well trained, warm, and always smiling. I had an aircon problem, but after one phone call, the lady was at my door before I’d even put the phone down. They treat you like royalty. I’ll definitely recommend it.

We arrived with a Booking.com confirmation for a reservation made well in advance, but the woman who seemed to be in charge had no record or memory of it. It took more than 10 minutes for her to let us through the gate. Once we were inside and had unloaded our luggage, a staff member told us that Ntwenhle had moved our booking to a different location and given our room to other guests. We heard this while standing in the rain. We tried to reach her, but couldn’t, even though it was well before the stated 10pm check-in cut-off. With such poor handling and communication, we had to find somewhere else to stay at short notice. This was my second bad experience here, and I won’t book again. Extremely disappointing service.

Even though I booked at the last minute, everything went smoothly. The rooms are roomy and comfortable, and the place itself is lovely. I really enjoyed my stay and was impressed by the service. Definitely recommend it! 💫
