I’d booked for December 2025 months ahead, but the owner cancelled through WhatsApp, saying it was for personal reasons. I was devastated. I’d also booked at Diaz hotel so I could check out The Hills first, then cancelled that hotel just weeks before the owner cancelled my stay. With Christmas only one or two months away, where was I supposed to find accommodation in Hartenbos? Be careful, a big family holiday could be ruined by The Hills in Hartenbos.

The rooms are lovely and very well maintained, and the service and hospitality from the owner and staff were great. There’s safe parking, too. It’s close to essential services while staying away from the noise.

The hosts were wonderful and really went the extra mile for us. It’s a beautiful place, and the rooms were clean with good-quality linen.

We waited outside for four hours without anyone attending to us. The Department of Sports, Arts and Culture had booked the place. When food finally came, there was hair in it. The food was horrible, the service was really bad, and there weren’t proper restrooms. The whole experience was so disappointing. I’m honestly appalled.
