You can hear everything through the walls. The person next door snored loudly and had the TV blaring all night, so I didn’t sleep at all before a long drive back to Pretoria. That’s what made this stay a bad one for me. The decor, bedding, towels, tiles, and furniture also feel old for the price, and the place could use an update. If you sleep soundly, you may be fine. The snacks in the room were a nice touch, and I was glad to have the electric blanket.

Arriving at Your B&& gave me some peace and rest after a horrible drive to EC. I haven’t met the owner yet, though my Husband has, and I hope to meet her before I leave to say Thank You and well done. I travel to this area often, so they’ve gained a Guest for life. I honestly recommend Oak Lane B&B. I’m staying at the Oak Lane B&B for the first time, and it’s immaculate. The hospitality deserves 5 stars. The owners did an amazing Job with the decor, furniture, snacks, water bottles, and all the comforts a guest could appreciate. Everything in the room made for a comfortable stay. The kitchenette was stocked with lots of coffee, tea, milk, rusks, and nuts, as well as hand wipes and mints. There’s an electric blanket and heater for those of Us from warmer provinces, and the bathroom was clean with fresh towels and extras on the bed. It feels safe and private, and having a remote means You can come and go easily. The lady who cleans is very kind and respectful. There was even peaceful sleep spray in the room and toilet spray in the bathroom. They put an umbrella by the door in case it rains, even though your car is parked right by your room. If You forget to pack something, they offer toothpaste, pain medication, eno, and citro soda, which is so thoughtful and saves You a drive looking for a shop. I mention the details because I didn’t enjoy my previous B&B stay. My only advice is to check that the bed sheets are clean and fresh.

We were let down. Although we’d paid in full well ahead of time, Lettie called the day before to say they wouldn’t be home and would leave a key. From 5am until 5pm there was no water, and there wasn’t even a bucket to keep water for flushing the toilet. The WiFi didn’t work because the owner sent the wrong password four times. I can see why we were the only guests in one of the ten rooms. With so many B&Bs nearby, I wouldn’t put Oak Lane at the top of the list.

The ladies who help at the B&B were so generous, and the rooms were cosy and nice. Come ready to tuck into a delicious, hearty breakfast. Keep it up! 👌
