The family house was clean, neat, cosy, and equipped with everything we needed. We spent Christmas on the farm, and as city residents, we felt it was the best decision. The mountain views are breathtaking, and the green surroundings are lovely for an outdoor picnic. It’s very safe and secure, with the nearest neighbours miles away, so you can play music as loud as you like. There are indoor and outdoor BBQs. The hammocks shown in the pictures weren’t there, and the pool was out of use at the time. I was surprised and delighted to find loads of lemon and olive trees, since I use lemons for practically everything, in green tea, homemade face masks, and water. The dogs on the property are adorable, calm, quiet, and kept separate from guests, so they won’t bother anyone. Reuben kindly helped us with directions around the farm, since there aren’t many signs to help you find your way. The free wifi speed wasn’t too bad. I highly recommend it for families. Keep in mind that shops and restaurants are miles away, so pack everything just in case.

The wine estate was closed at the time, and I never managed to get into the romantic suite I’d booked on Airbnb at Calais Cottages. The host had asked what time I’d arrive the day before, and I showed up at the agreed time, but I stood at the gate for almost an hour trying to reach her. She didn’t answer my messages, and all four contact numbers were unavailable. I went into Paarl, came back about an hour later, and still couldn’t reach her. After nearly three hours waiting, I gave up and drove all the way home. Be warned, don’t book here unless you want to be stood up.

A really affordable, nice and luxurious place to stay. I enjoyed the hospitality and the cool breeze in the surroundings. It’s one of those rare places where you can get a beautiful, secure stay, whether short or long. I’m very grateful for the service, keep it up.

Terrible. The cottage was dirty, including the windows and surfaces. The toilet leaked, the shower drain was blocked, and an electrical socket was burnt. I stayed one night out of the seven. Book at your own peril.

The alarm kept going off all evening, and the place smelled like dead fish. It wasn’t like the advertisement at all. Worst experience ever.
